President Donald Trump will participate in a dignified transfer ceremony tomorrow evening at Dover Air Force Base in Delaware for two U.S. Army soldiers killed in an Iranian missile and drone strike on a military base in Jordan.
White House Press Secretary Karoline Leavitt confirmed the president’s plans, saying Trump and the administration are praying for the families of the fallen. The ceremony will honor the return of the remains of 1st Lt. Tyler James Feehan, 25, of Ewa Beach, Hawaii, and Pvt. Isabella Gonzales, 19, of Carrollton, Texas. Both were active-duty soldiers supporting U.S. operations in the region.
The soldiers died Friday during Iranian attacks on Muwaffaq Salti Air Base in Jordan. The strikes, involving ballistic missiles and drones, targeted U.S. and partner forces amid escalating hostilities. A third service member, Sgt. Angel Rampersad of Ozone Park, New York, was also reported killed, according to Pentagon updates.
In a Truth Social post, President Trump vowed a strong response: “Every time Iran kills an American soldier they will pay for that killing many times over, as the U.S. continues its military campaign in the Middle East.” The administration has maintained pressure on Iran.
Dignified transfers at Dover rank among the most solemn duties of the commander-in-chief. Flag-draped transfer cases are carried by military honor guards as families receive their loved ones on American soil. Trump has previously called attending such ceremonies one of the most difficult responsibilities of the office.
Pentagon officials identified the soldiers Monday and continue supporting the families. The Defense Department expressed condolences and highlighted the bravery of those serving in harm’s way. U.S. Central Command has reinforced defenses and conducted retaliatory actions, though full operational details remain withheld for security reasons.
The ceremony underscores the human cost of ongoing Middle East tensions as the White House monitors developments.
