AMMAN, Jordan — Two U.S. service members were killed while supporting defensive operations against Iranian ballistic missile and drone attacks targeting positions in Jordan, U.S. Central Command (CENTCOM) confirmed Saturday.
A third American service member remains listed as missing in action. Four additional U.S. personnel were injured in the incident, medically evacuated to Jordanian hospitals for treatment, and have since been released and returned to duty, according to CENTCOM.
The command is withholding the names of the fallen service members pending notification of their families, in line with Department of Defense policy.
The attack occurred as U.S. forces in the region assisted Jordanian partners in countering a barrage of Iranian-launched ballistic missiles and drones.
